PETALING JAYA:
A teen nasi lemak seller whose life goal was to work with Petronas in the future got a glimpse of his dream workplace after the national oil company gave him a grand tour.

Wearing a Petronas jersey, Ilham Mohd Fazil, 16, was taken to the Petrosains museum and later, to the Petronas offices in the Twin Towers, according to an Instagram video posted by the company.

Ilham’s story of helping his single mother take care of a nasi lemak stall at the Setiawangsa LRT station featured in FMT caught the hearts and minds of readers recently. In that story, the Form Four student said he wanted to work with Petronas someday.

Walking out of the Petronas tour, Ilham said he was now eager to pursue a career in oil exploration.

“I like the idea of being offshore. I like Petronas’ business, their race car drivers. This tour has been valuable. I got to learn a lot about Petronas,” he said.

Ilham said he was eager to work with the company as many of his customers were Petronas staff.

“I am going to work hard so that I can work for Petronas someday,” he said.

Petronas, in the same Instagram post, said it was touched by Ilham’s eagerness to work with the company.

“We are also very impressed by his effort to help his mother while balancing his study time. The country’s future is bright with people like him,” the post read.
