KOTA TINGGI: Two men and a woman, who were believed to have lost their way while trekking down Gunung Panti here yesterday, were found safe last night, thanks to the location shared by one of them through WhatsApp.
Senior fire officer Syukri Mohd Yusoff said Gan Chen Yang, 23, Yong Chin Cheng, 25, and Wong Zao Yi, 22, were found at about 10pm about 300m from the checkpoint of the two mountains, before being led to safety by the rescue team.
Yesterday, one of the trekkers told police on the phone that they had lost their way while descending Gunung Panti at about 5pm.
A 10-member rescue team was deployed to the scene.
It is understood that all three were experienced hikers.
They began their hike at about 7am but could not find their way out, although they could still be contacted.
