
In his update for the week ending Aug 27, Noor Hisham said the number of Covid-19 patients admitted to public hospitals under Categories 1 and 2 decreased by 15.8% per 100,000 from the preceding week, while Categories 3,4 and 5 patients dropped by 15.2%.
Admissions in quarantine centres were down by 13%.
Overall bed occupancy for non-critical beds and intensive care unit (ICU) beds decreased by 3% and 2%, respectively.
Active cases also dropped during the week by 13.9% to 36,179.
“Recoveries dropped by 5.4% from 26,458 to 25,037,” Noor Hisham said.
“The number of deaths increased by 7.1% from 56 to 60, bringing the cumulative figure for fatalities to 36,196.”
He said a total of 4,774,003 Covid-19 cases had been recorded in the country since January 2020.
