Jempol councillor arrested over alleged abuse of disabled brother

He was arrested on Saturday after members of the public alerted police about the alleged abuse.

Police have obtained a four-day remand order against the suspect.

A councillor in Jempol, Negeri Sembilan, has been arrested for allegedly abusing his disabled brother.

Jempol police chief Hoo Chang Hook said the suspect, who is in his 40s, was arrested on Saturday.

He said the arrest came after members of the public alerted police about the alleged abuse.

Initial investigations revealed that the 39-year-old victim had burn marks and scars on his body.

“The victim was taken to Jempol Hospital for examination and the doctor confirmed that he sustained injuries on the abdomen and back.

“Further investigations revealed that the suspect is a member of the Jempol district council,” Hoo said in a statement.

Police have obtained a remand order from the Bahau magistrate for four days, which began on Aug 27.
