Ismail not attending Zahid’s special briefing, says officer

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who is Umno vice-president, is away attending a function in Pahang.

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s officer said he will be present for the Umno Supreme Council meeting tonight.
KUALA LUMPUR:
Umno vice-president Ismail Sabri Yaakob will not be attending party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s special briefing at Dewan Merdeka, World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL), as he is officiating another event.

His officer explained that Ismail, the prime minister, had to attend the launching of the National Retail Sector Digitisation Initiative Programme in Pahang this morning.

“The prime minister did not have enough time to come to WTCKL because there was an official programme at Dataran Kerayong Bera, Pahang.

“But he will be present for the Supreme Council meeting tonight,” he told FMT when asked about Ismail’s absence.

Zahid’s briefing today was attended by all the main Umno leaders, except Ismail.

Earlier, the Umno president’s briefing began with an explanation by the former prime minister’s lawyer, Shafee Abdullah, regarding the Federal Court’s decision to uphold Najib’s conviction in the SRC International case.

Also present were Najib’s wife, Rosmah Mansor, and their two children, Nooryana Najwa and Nizar.
