Mohamaddin is the Lahad Datu MP and Segama assemblyman. He won his parliamentary and state seats as a member of Sabah-based Warisan in the 2018 general election (GE14) and the 2020 state polls, respectively.

Last October, he quit Warisan and joined Bersatu. However, he was in the Muhyiddin Yassin-led party for only seven months. On June 28, he announced that he was quitting Bersatu.

Now, sources in the know have told FMT that Mohamaddin and Bersatu’s Libaran MP Zakaria Edris are set to join PBM, the party led by plantation industries and commodities minister Zuraida Kamaruddin.

She is the president-designate of the party. The current president is Julau MP Larry Sng from Sarawak.

Several media outlets have reported receiving an invitation to attend a press conference tomorrow that will be attended by Mohamaddin and Sng.

FMT is attempting to reach Mohamaddin and Zakaria for comment. Several PBM leaders contacted by FMT have declined comment.

Should the two MPs join PBM, the party’s representatives in the Dewan Rakyat will increase to five. Its other MPs are Sng, Zuraida (Ampang) and Steven Choong (Tebrau).

The party, which is applying to join Barisan Nasional (BN), also has five assemblymen. Three are from Perak – Leong Cheok Keng (Malim Nawar), A Sivasubramaniam (Buntong) and Paul Yong (Tronoh) – and two are from Selangor – Haniza Talha (Lembah Jaya), Daroyah Alwi (Sementa).

Previously, Sng said the party supports Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s leadership and will defend all the seats held by its incumbents.
