“We will see. We will see,” he told FMT when met at the Langkah Sheraton NFT launch here tonight.
However, he did not elaborate further.
The Straits Times had previously reported that Pua told party peers that he would not contest in GE15.
The Singapore daily wrote that the three-term MP “had made clear to his DAP peers he will not stand for a fourth parliamentary term”.
It was also reported that Bakri MP and former energy, technology, science, climate change and environment minister Yeo Bee Yin is also believed to be leaning “90-10” towards skipping the elections.
Prior to this, it was reported that Pua’s DAP colleague Ong Kian Ming would not offer himself as a candidate for the next general election.
The two-term MP said he wanted a break from politics to “regroup and recharge”.
‘Sheraton move, the beginning of a long journey’
Meanwhile, DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang said that the “Sheraton Move” – which led to the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan government in 2020 – should be seen as a beginning of the long journey to create a better country for future generations.
He said that many Malaysians, who came from abroad to vote in GE15 felt that their long journey had been pointless following the Sheraton Move.
“The Sheraton Move was not a failure but the beginning to a long journey.”
The country, he said, was left “hopeless” after the Sheraton Move, but there was “light at the end of the tunnel” following the incarceration of former prime minister Najib Razak for graft.
