Muda sec-gen to be charged over LCS rally

This comes after three others were accused of failing to notify police over price hike protest gatherings last month.

Police have summoned 13 people involved in the protest over the controversial littoral combat ship project in Kuala Lumpur two weeks ago.
PETALING JAYA:
Muda secretary-general Amir Abd Hadi will be charged in court tomorrow over the “Mana Kapal LCS” protest outside the Sogo shopping complex in Kuala Lumpur two weeks ago.

In a brief Twitter post, Amir said his lawyers had been informed that he will be charged at 9am under the Peaceful Assembly Act.

“We will continue fighting,” he said.

Separately, the party said leaders and members will be at the Kuala Lumpur court complex in solidarity with Amir.

This comes a week after two politicians and a student activist were charged at a magistrates’ court for failing to notify police over price hike protest gatherings last month.

The three – Amanah Youth chief Hasbie Muda, Batu PKR Youth chief Sabda Suluh Lestari Yahya and student activist Aliff Naif Mohd Fizam – were the organisers of three separate gatherings.

Previously, police had summoned 13 people involved in the protest over the controversial littoral combat ship (LCS) project.

The rally saw about 200 people gathering on Aug 14, urging Putrajaya to form a royal commission of inquiry into the project, and for defence minister Hishammuddin Hussein to resign for failing to take responsibility for the troubled project.
