The Umno vice-president was said to have arrived at 8.01pm through another entrance, as he was not seen by members of the media who have been waiting at Menara Dato Onn since 7.30pm.

Others who were seen attending the meeting are Umno vice-president Mahdzir Khalid, Terengganu Umno chief Ahmad Said, Perak Umno chief Saarani Mohamad and Selangor Umno chief Noh Omar.

This is the party’s first political bureau meeting since former prime minister Najib Razak’s SRC International conviction and jail sentence was upheld by the Federal Court yesterday.

The Pekan MP was sent to the Kajang prison yesterday evening following the apex court’s decision.

This morning, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi called for calm over the Federal Court’s decision, saying Najib’s “fighting spirit” still burned strong though he was in prison.

Zahid has also called on Umno leaders to attend a special briefing at 2pm, on Saturday.
