KUCHING:
Parti Aspirasi Rakyat Sarawak (Aspirasi), Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru (PBDSB) and Parti Sedar Rakyat Sarawak (Sedar) have agreed to form a new political coalition called Gagasan.

The announcement was made by PBDSB permanent chairman John Brian Anthony at a press conference here today.

John said Gagasan’s main objective was to fight for Sarawak’s interests and promote an inclusive agenda for the state.

“This coalition is beyond an electoral pact. We are not going to focus only on the coming general election but the long run.

“We have been called ‘mosquito parties’ because we are small, and some of our ideas disappear because we don’t have enough voices, but now we are going to present them as a coalition,” he said.

Present at the press conference were Aspirasi president Lina Soo, PBDSB president Bobby William and Sedar president Othman Abdillah.

John said Gagasan would submit its application for registration to the Registrar of Societies soon.

“Work is also in progress with other local political parties to ask them to join or work with us,” he said.
