Tunku’s eldest daughter Khadijah dies, aged 89

Tunku Khadijah had been diagnosed with late-stage lung cancer and died soon after she was admitted to Pantai Hospital in Kuala Lumpur.

KUALA LUMPUR:
Tunku Khadijah, the eldest daughter of first prime minister Tunku Abdul Rahman, died of lung cancer at Pantai Hospital here yesterday. She was 89.

According to Tunku Khadijah’s daughter, Sharifah Menyalara Hussein, her mother died at 6.50pm.

“She died a few hours after being admitted to the hospital. My mother was diagnosed with late-stage lung cancer early this year,” she told Bernama.

Sharifah Menyalara said the remains of her mother would be brought to the Federal Territory Mosque to be bathed and shrouded before burial at the Bukit Kiara Muslim cemetery.
