KUALA LUMPUR:
The Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) has called for procedures that provide a quick turnaround on foreign worker applications to be maintained.

FMM president Soh Thian Lai said the current application procedure should not be stopped as it would disrupt the economic recovery.

The human resources ministry has suspended foreign worker applications for two weeks from Aug 15 for the application procedure to be revised.

Soh said the frequent suspension of application processing was very disruptive to industries that need to bring in workers during the critical period of economic recovery.

He added that applications were previously suspended for two weeks in June.
