Petaling Jaya district police chief Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the suspect relayed the threat to Rizal’s wife yesterday.
“Police received a report from the owner of Mycomedy Sdn Bhd (the company that owns the comedy club). The case is being investigated under Section 507 of the Penal Code (for criminal intimidation) and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 (which deals with insulting behaviour),” he said in a statement.
Fakhrudin added that the threat was related to the vandalism that took place at the premises where two individuals splattered paint at the entrance and signboard of the comedy club.

That incident took place around 4am yesterday. Police said two suspects had carried out the act and left in a Proton Waja.
Rizal was investigated last week following his open mic shows which allegedly insulted Malays and Islam. At least two clips of the performances went viral on social media.
His club was in the spotlight after a woman in her mid-20s allegedly insulted Islam while on stage when she claimed to have memorised 15 chapters of Quran before proceeding to discard her tudung and baju kurung to reveal another set of clothes underneath.
The show took place last month and the woman, identified as Siti Nuramira Abdullah, was charged last week for insulting Islam.
