The wing’s economic bureau chief Ammar Atan alleged that Najib lied about the matter in several Facebook posts dated March 3, July 12, and July 13.
Among the lies Najib allegedly told include claims that the suit by the heirs was filed in 2019 after PH came to power and that the coalition did not fight the case at the arbitration court.
Najib was also alleged to have said that PH caused Sabah to lose its sovereignty.
The report was lodged at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters today.
“He clearly attempted to spin the issue, confuse the public, and incite the people against PH or the present government.
“Therefore, we urge the police to investigate Najib under Section 233 of the (Communications and Multimedia Act 1998) and Section 499 (for defamation),” he said.
Ammar added that Amanah Youth was open to a debate with Najib on the issue.
He also said the heirs initiated the suit in Madrid in December 2017, long before PH came to power.
Two Petronas subsidiaries in Azerbaijan were reportedly seized by bailiffs after a French arbitration court ruled in March that Malaysia had to pay the descendants of the Sultan of Sulu at least RM62.59 billion.
The seizure of Petronas’ Luxembourg-registered subsidiaries, Petronas Azerbaijan (Shah Deniz) and Petronas South Caucasus, is part of legal efforts launched in 2017 by the heirs to receive compensation over land in Sabah they said their ancestor leased to a British trading company in 1878.
