PETALING JAYA:
A political party comprising military veterans will be filing a judicial review in the Kuala Lumpur High Court against the home affairs minister’s alleged delay in reaching a decision on their registration.

Parti Kemakmuran Negara said it applied for registration on March 9, 2021, but the Registrar of Societies (RoS), rejected the application on March 16 this year.

It appealed against the decision to the minister on March 25.

“However, 113 days have passed since the appeal and no decision has been made by the minister,” it said.

It is seeking a court order for the minister to make a decision on the appeal within seven days, should the judicial review succeed.

In the suit, the party claimed that the delay was unreasonable, unlawful and an infringement on the right to form associations under the Federal Constitution.

The party is led by Brig-Gen (Rtd) Abdullah Mohamed, who served in the air force.

The other founders are veterans from the army, the navy and the air force.

The party is being represented by lawyer and Muda vice-president Lim Wei Jiet.
