PETALING JAYA:
Former senator Siti Aishah Shaik Ismail says she has been summoned to Bukit Aman over her video clip about the removal of subsidies by the government.

She told FMT that she has been asked to present herself on Monday to make a statement but the police agreed to her request for an interview date after Hari Raya Aidiladha next week.

“They agreed in principle and they will confirm a new date later,” she said.

Siti Aishah, a PKR member, was appointed a senator in 2015 for a three-year term.

She said she was not afraid of any pressure levelled at her. “I’m confident I’m on the right side. The people are with me,” she said.

In her widely-shared video, she criticised the government for removing subsidies for chicken, chicken eggs, and certain cooking oil from July 1, and said the decision would result in a sharp price increase for some food items.
