Sabah’s second finance minister Masidi Manjun said he was giving serious attention to the matter following several cases of false declarations reported through an advisory services session with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
“Measures to improve enforcement and collection will be taken, including amendments to laws and regulations if necessary, to ensure there are no leakages,” he said in a statement today.
A task force will be formed for the collection of any undeclared sales taxes.
Masidi said his ministry had also agreed to give a tax payment moratorium to companies who have made incorrect declarations so that they can pay the actual taxes following assessments.
