PUTRAJAYA:
Bersatu secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin says he has yet to receive any letter from Lahad Datu MP Mohamaddin Ketapi regarding his exit from the party.

“He has announced it, but I have yet to receive anything (in writing),” said Hamzah at an event.

However, Hamzah, who is also the home minister, admitted that Mohamaddin had sent him a message earlier this morning to discuss the matter.

Without naming anyone, Hamzah then called out certain elected representatives from Bersatu for being “weak” and not having any fighting spirit.

Earlier today, it was reported that Mohamaddin had quit Bersatu, less than a year after joining the Muhyiddin Yassin-led party.

Mohamaddin, formerly of Warisan, said he would be an independent MP backing the current federal and Sabah state governments.

The former tourism minister, who is also the assemblyman for Segama, quit Warisan last October and joined Bersatu the following month.

Mohamaddin said he was quitting Bersatu as he did not get the role he was promised previously – to lead the party in the Lahad Datu and Segama constituencies.

He claimed that he and his supporters had been sidelined by the party machinery in these areas, with Bersatu conducting activities without his knowledge.
