TUMPAT:
The government will pay attention to four proposals submitted by the Association of Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Malaysia before the 2023 budget is tabled in October.

Economic affairs minister Mustapa Mohamed said the four proposals were about the hiring of foreign workers, inflation control, internet access, and food security.

Mustapa said the government was serious about looking into the rising cost of doing business arising from bureaucratic measures and the shortage of foreign workers, which were often raised by industry stakeholders.

He said the prime minister had called for faster approval of applications for foreign workers so as not to jeopardise economic recovery efforts.

“Following that, the ministers of human resources and home affairs will be holding discussions to speed up and facilitate the entry process of foreign workers who have been approved,” he said.

He said as at June 10, about 19,000 foreign workers from 12 countries have entered Malaysia.
