Ahmad said the Pasir Salak MP would have a tough time trying to balance his role as an ambassador with that of helping Umno prepare for the next general election (GE15).
“How can Tajuddin be both an envoy and a Supreme Council member? To be fair to him, his responsibility to the country must be given priority.
“So, now he has the opportunity to focus on being a full-time ambassador,” he told reporters.
Yesterday, a letter on Tajuddin’s removal, dated June 21, made its rounds on social media. In the letter, Ahmad thanked the controversial MP for his past services.
Earlier today, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said Tajuddin was dropped from the Supreme Council because of his critical attitude towards the party. He did not elaborate.
Zahid said while Supreme Council members were allowed to have differing opinions, all decisions finalised by the party’s leadership must be complied with.
