SHAH ALAM:
The tourism, arts and culture ministry reminded tourism players to remain cautious following news that a new Covid-19 wave is expected to reach the country’s shores sooner than expected.

“We cannot take this lightly,” she said, referring to the warning issued by the health ministry following a rise in the number of daily cases over the past week.

Nancy was speaking to reporters after launching the Special Interest Programme under Tourism Recovery Plan 2022, here.

The programme, revolved around theme parks and scuba diving among others.

It was previously reported that a new Covid-19 wave was expected in about two to three months.

However, health minister Khairy Jamaluddin warned yesterday that the wave could occur earlier after more than 2,000 cases were reported over the past week.

A total of 2,796 new Covid-19 cases and one death were reported last night.

According to CovidNow, the total number of cases now stood at 4,549,847, while the total number of deaths was 35,742.
