Kelantan acting police chief Muhamad Zaki Harun said the child no longer required respiratory support and was able to breathe normally.
He said if the boy continued to show positive development, he would possibly be transferred to the Sultan Ismail Petra Hospital (HSIP) in Kuala Krai soon.
“Alhamdulillah, the child is getting better and we pray for his health to improve.
“He may be transferred to HSIP to make it easier for family members to visit and take care of him,” he told reporters after meeting the boy’s mother at HRPZ II here.
Earlier, Muhamad Zaki and a delegation from the Kelantan police contingent headquarters together with Kelantan police family association acting chairman Suzana Yashin presented a gift from the former Raja Perempuan, Tengku Anis Tengku Abdul Hamid, to the boy’s mother.
The victim’s 36-year-old mother said she was relieved and thankful that her youngest son’s health was improving.
In thanking all those who had shown concern and given contributions, she said the donations received would be used for her son’s needs.
“My son is now being tube-fed and I hope he will continue to show improvement,” said the mother of three, who is also a stage four cancer patient.
In the incident last Sunday, the boy was found to be in critical condition after doctors found drugs in his system, believed to have accidentally ingested while left in a car belonging to his mother’s cousin in Kampung Sri Bintang, Kuala Krai.
The 30-year-old suspect, who is an addict, is being remanded for further investigation.
