“I myself will announce it if I have joined any political party. There is no need to be evasive,” he told reporters today, Bernama reported.
Dzulkifli presented a donation of 1,500kg of cencaru fish to the public at Pokok Sena, and said he would continue his welfare work in Tasek Gelugor, his hometown.
“Even if I do not join a political party, I will continue with the welfare programmes according to my ability to help citizens and villagers,” he said.
He also launched a volunteer squad consisting of youths aged 18 to 40 to help the community in Tasek Gelugor in various aspects including manpower.
Dzulkifli’s remarks come a day after the sitting MP, Shabudin Yahya, confirmed he will not be contesting at the next general election, expected before September next year.
He said yesterday that he was making way for younger leaders and would continue to be active in politics as a normal member of Bersatu in which he was formerly the party’s leader in Penang.
