PETALING JAYA:
Police have arrested four more people in connection with the brutal murder of a young woman whose charred remains were found on a Sungai Kuala Kangsar riverbank near Kampung Talang Hulu, in Perak, on May 31.

Police arrested the 21-year-old victim’s boyfriend on Saturday.

State police chief Mior Faridalathrash Wahid confirmed the arrests.

“So far, we have picked up five individuals, including the first suspect,” he told FMT.

Police did not provide more details about the suspects as they continued their investigation into the case that has rocked Perak’s royal town of Kuala Kangsar.

Pictures and TikTok videos of the woman have been circulating on social media, and there is speculation that the motive for the murder was jealousy.

There were also claims that the victim was gang raped. However, Mior said he had received “no such information”.

News reports stated that the cause of death was a blow to the head and that the victim was burned. Her body was discovered by a local resident in Kampung Talang Hulu.

A piece of concrete with traces of blood was also found near the body. It is believed to have been used to kill the woman.
