PETALING JAYA:
PKR’s election committee (JPP) today admitted that there were attempts to hack into their Adil app – which was used for online voting at the party’s recent polls.
Dr Zaliha Mustafa.

JPP head Dr Zaliha Mustafa said, however, that they managed to prevent such incidents.

“We can’t deny there were attempts to hack (into Adil) but any such issue has already been resolved,” she told FMT.

Zaliha was responding to Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak’s statement on Sunday, claiming that there were discrepancies between the number of ballots tallied and that of voters.

Farhash was eyeing the vice-president’s post and was also attempting to unseat Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari as the Gombak division chief.

Unofficial results yesterday showed that Amirudin garnered 1,858 votes against Farhash’s 1,215 votes.

Farhash had also demanded that a forensic audit be carried out, calling the results of the polls for the Gombak division “nonsensical”.

Zaliha said that the committee is still looking into the objections raised against the voting system.

“If possible, we hope to conduct it (forensic audit) before the official results are announced at the PKR national congress on June 25 and 26.

“JPP has not fixed a date yet.”

When asked if a fresh election will be called in the event that the disputes over the results continue to be raised, Zaliha appeared non-committal.

“It is hard for me to say but let us wait for the (forensic) audit result,” she said.
