Khairy, who is also Rembau MP, complimented Rafizi and welcomed him back to active politics, in a post on his Instagram account.
“Congratulations Rafizi Ramli on winning the deputy presidency of PKR and welcome back to active politics.
“I have always said that you are the most talented politician of our generation and wish you all the best (despite being on opposing teams),” he said.
Yesterday, former PKR deputy president Azmin Ali took to Twitter to congratulate Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari over his victory in the race for the post of Gombak division chief in the PKR polls.
The latter also took one of the four vice-presidents’ post according to the unofficial results published on the PKR website yesterday.
The congratulatory post from Azmin via Twitter read: “Congratulations to Amirudin for his victory. May greater understanding continue to bring glad tidings.”
Following Pakatan Harapan’s victory in the 14th general election (GE14) in May 2018, Azmin was given a federal portfolio and was said to have chosen Amirudin to succeed him as Selangor menteri besar.
However, Azmin left PKR in February 2020 with 10 other elected representatives from the party.
Although Amirudin was known to be a staunch Azmin loyalist, he did not defect and remained with PKR.
Based on the unofficial results announced yesterday, Rafizi won with 68,451 votes, defeating Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, who obtained 48,223 votes, for a majority of 20,228 votes.
Meanwhile, in the contest for the Gombak division chief, Amirudin won with 1,858 votes, defeating former Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal, who obtained 1,215 votes, for a majority of 643 votes.
