PETALING JAYA: Noor Effandi Ahmad, the former Bersatu assemblyman for Telok Mas in Melaka, has joined Amanah.
Effandi was among the four assemblymen who withdrew support for the previous state government and chief minister Sulaiman Md Ali in October.
He was subsequently sacked by Bersatu.
While Umno duo Idris Haron and Nor Azman Hassan were fielded as candidates by Pakatan Harapan in the Melaka election in November, Effandi did not get to defend his seat.
In a Facebook post yesterday, former Melaka chief minister Adly Zahari announced that Effandi and another Bersatu member, Afiq Nordin, had joined Amanah.
“May we continue to work towards a better future for the country,” Adly, the Melaka Pakatan Harapan chairman, said.
