“We have done the investigation and we will announce the findings in a day or two on the wrongdoing that they committed,” he said at a Hari Raya open house at the police training centre here today.
Asked whether police would take action against the MP’s son, Hamzah said they would do so if the investigation showed he broke the law.
However, he reiterated that the government would not amend the SOPs on police outriders.
“There will be no new SOPs as there’s no problem with them. We have answered this issue in Parliament before. It’s only a problem when an individual uses something that shouldn’t be used,” he said.
A 20-second clip of the incident circulating on social media shows a car driven by the MP’s son being escorted by two traffic policemen along Jalan Bukit Gambir in Penang.
Yesterday, Penang police said the driver, who is in his 20s, would be called to facilitate the investigation.
