ALOR SETAR: A grass cutter was killed while his friend was seriously injured after they were run down by a Perodua Alza driven by a 16-year-old boy near Bedong today.
Kuala Muda police chief Zaidy Che Hassan said the grass cutter, Myanmar national Cinglowpa, 20, died on the spot from serious head injuries. His friend, Jamal Husson Fozol Haque, 33, suffered a broken right shoulder.
“Cinglowpa was resting on the road shoulder after working while his friend was sitting on a parked motorcycle nearby when the accident occurred at about 11am,” Zaidy said.
“A speeding Perodua Alza driven by a 16-year-old boy, went out of control and hurtled to the left road shoulder before hitting a tree. The MPV then bulldozed into both the victims,” he said in a statement here.
“The teenage driver, who was unhurt, was detained for further investigation,” he said.
