Probe into houseman’s death still going on, say cops

Police are waiting for the autopsy and laboratory test reports and will speak to family members this week.

The 25-year-old houseman at Penang Hospital fell to his death last month.
PETALING JAYA:
Police are still investigating the death of a Penang Hospital houseman last month and are expected to take statements from family members this week.

Acting Penang northeast district police chief V Saravanan said police were still waiting for the autopsy report and laboratory tests of the 25-year-old trainee doctor who fell to his death.

He said they had taken statements from the doctor’s housemates and other doctors.

“We will take statements from the victim’s family members this week. The death is still classified as sudden death. Investigations are ongoing,” he said, according to a New Straits Times report.

It was reported recently that the houseman fell to his death from the 23rd floor of his rented apartment at Jalan Keramat in George Town on April 17, just three weeks after being posted to Penang Hospital.

Earlier, northeast district police chief Soffian Santong did not rule out the possibility of the case being reclassified, if there was any new evidence.
