SINGAPORE:
Malaysian Mobile Technology Association (MMTA) president Shawn Ng Chee Heung appeared in court proceedings here yesterday to be orally examined by the high court in connection with the enforcement of a judgment obtained against him earlier this year.

The judgment, delivered by senior judge Lai Siew Chiu on Jan 28, had ordered Ng and his business partner in Cookiss Mobile, Jerald Wong Thai Hian, to repay a combined sum of S$308,484.24 (approximately RM975,000) which they had dishonestly procured from Singapore entity ICE Messaging Pte Ltd between 2011 and 2014 together with interest and legal costs of S$163,000.

Following the judgment, on March 14, ICE Messaging, represented by Ari Krishnan of AGP LLC, secured from the Singapore High Court a court order for Ng and Wong to be orally examined.

An accompanying questionnaire requires Ng and Wong to disclose their respective assets, including properties owned in Singapore and overseas, motor vehicles, bank accounts, their sources of income, debtors and creditors, and to furnish supporting documents including title deeds, bank statements, payslips and income tax returns.

The notice further states that committal proceedings may be issued for failure to attend court.

Ng was directed to furnish his answers and supporting documents by June 8, and is scheduled to appear again in court on June 22.

Wong’s hearing was adjourned to May 25 pending service of court documents on him.
