Expect ‘good news’, 3 changes to Covid-19 SOPs coming, says PM

The prime minister says these need to be fully discussed with the health ministry before any announcement is made.

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the health ministry is studying whether to do away with masks, use of MySejahtera when entering premises and Covid-19 tests.
SEREMBAN:
The government is discussing relaxing three key measures in the SOPs for the prevention of Covid-19, says Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said the three key measures involved the wearing of face masks, scanning of the MySejahtera app when entering premises and Covid-19 detection tests.

He said these were still being assessed and discussed at the health ministry, adding that they will be announced soon.

“Surely, the people will be happy.”

He said the health ministry will look at the pros and cons regarding doing away with masks, scanning using MySejahtera and the PCR or RTK-Antigen tests.

Speaking after visiting a welfare home here today, Ismail said the government would also take into consideration the people’s concerns if the SOPs are relaxed too much.

Yesterday, the media reported health minister Khairy Jamaluddin as saying that further relaxation of the SOPs was expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
