GURUN:
The agriculture and food industries ministry has assured adequate chicken and egg supply to meet the demand for the Hari Raya celebration next month.

Its minister, Ronald Kiandee, also said the supply of raw materials is stable.

“We are monitoring poultry and egg farms, and we are assured by the farm operators and producers that there is sufficient supply for the upcoming festive season.

“The ministry will look into the supply, while prices will be monitored by the domestic trade and consumer affairs ministry,” he told reporters at the United Arab Emirates-based HotPack Packaging Industries LLC (Hotpack) groundbreaking ceremony here today.

Separately, Kiandee said the cost of livestock production was increasing currently because the price of imported animal feed was also increasing.

“We import corn and soybean meal from overseas depending on the import market price,” he added.
