Man held for attacking photo shop owner over unpaid salary

Police have arrested a man who attacked a photo shop owner with an axe and a pocket knife in a dispute over unpaid salary.

According to Penang police chief Shuhaily Mohd Zain, the incident happened at Jalan Penang at 9.50am today when the suspect went to the shop to collect his salary before he was laid off.

He said the man was promised RM1,700, but he did not receive it.

“Angry with his employer, the suspect attacked him with an axe and a pocket knife,” Harian Metro quoted Shuhaily as saying.

“The victim, a 67-year-old man, did not suffer serious injuries and was treated as an outpatient.”

Shuhaily said police would get a remand order against the suspect.
