4 nabbed over woman’s death in Penang

The woman was admitted to Hospital Balik Pulau unconscious and in critical condition on Saturday and was transferred to Penang Hospital for further treatment, but succumbed to her injuries.

Police say the four men, aged 23 to 28, were detained around Teluk Kumbar, Penang, over the past two days.

Police have arrested four men to assist in the investigation into the death of a woman on Sunday.

Southwest district police chief Kamarul Rizal Jenal said the four men, aged 23 to 28, were arrested around Teluk Kumbar on Sunday and yesterday.

“Police received a report from a doctor at Hospital Balik Pulau here at 10.39pm on Saturday about a 20-year-old woman who was admitted to the hospital unconscious and in critical condition.

“Doctors found bruises on her head and whole body upon examination of the victim. The woman was then transferred to Penang Hospital for further treatment,” he said in a statement today.

He said the woman died on Sunday at Penang Hospital.

He added that the victim’s boyfriend was among those detained.

Kamarul Rizal said the four men have been remanded until April 11 to assist in the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Earlier, media reported that a YouTube channel creator was seriously injured when she was allegedly assaulted by her boyfriend following an argument.

The woman, believed to be from Melaka, and her boyfriend had been staying at their friend’s rented house since arriving in Penang on March 27 to create content for their YouTube channel.
