Criminal Investigation Department director Abdul Jalil Hassan said the last time the former prime minister was called in was on March 23.
It was to assist in the investigation of the memoirs of former attorney-general Tommy Thomas.
Mahathir was called only as a witness, and was asked to answer questions related to the book.
In a blog post earlier today Mahathir had said he expected to be hauled in by authorities for questioning the justice system after noting that his successor Najib Razak, who has been convicted of corruption, had yet to spend a day in prison.
He added he was only engaging in speculation but added that being called up by authorities amounted to intimidation of the people. “Shut your mouth and your ears and you’ll be ok,” he said.
