Don’t drop your guard about Covid-19, says PM

Face masks are still required in public places and the people should not be complacent about precautions.

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has reminded the people about taking Covid-19 precautions even though most restrictions have been lifted.
KUALA LUMPUR:
Don’t be complacent about Covid-19 precautions even though restrictions have been lifted, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob reminded Malaysians today.

He said the people should continue to comply with rules such as wearing a face mask while in public places.

“Even though we have given some relaxations (in the transition to the endemic phase of the virus outbreak) the wearing of face masks in public places is still mandatory,” he said in a televised address to mark the beginning of Ramadan and fasting tomorrow.

“Do not be complacent and continue practising self-control,” he said.

He said the transition to the endemic phase would enable Muslims all over the country to return to normal life.

“During Ramadan this year, Muslims can return to perform fardhu and tarawih prayers in congregation, as well as enliven the Ramadan ihya programme, subject to the ruling of the state religious authorities.

“We believe many want to return to their hometowns to celebrate Ramadan as they could not do so in the last Ramadan,” he said.
