
PETALING JAYA: Muslims in Malaysia will begin the fasting month of Ramadan on Sunday (April 3), the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal, Syed Danial Syed Ahmad announced tonight.
The announcement follows the traditional sighting of the new moon which took place this evening at 29 locations throughout the country.
Fasting during Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam.
Earlier today, the domestic trade and consumer affairs ministry said it would double its efforts to monitor the prices of goods and food sold at Ramadan bazaars throughout the fasting month.
