PETALING JAYA:
Selangor Wanita PKR chief Rodziah Ismail has confirmed that she will be vying for the national chief’s post in the party elections in May.

Rodziah said she has “experience and consistency” and is ready to take on the role of Wanita chief for the 2022-2025 term.

She is expected to come up against Fadhlina Sidek, Wanita PKR’s legal and community development bureau chief, for the post.

In a statement today, Rodziah said the work carried out under her leadership in Selangor, “consistently and without fail”, was proof of her team’s ability to lead the women’s wing.

“The women need a leader to spearhead projects and empower them,” she said.

Meanwhile, former Kapar MP G Manivannan has also confirmed that he will be contesting for a vice-president’s post.

Rodziah had contested for the Wanita PKR chief’s post in the 2014 party elections but lost to Zuraida Kamaruddin.

Zuraida retained her post unopposed in the 2018 party polls but was sacked in February 2020 following the Sheraton Move. The post has remained vacant since.

In 2018, Rodziah also contested for the Wanita deputy chief’s post but lost to Daroyah Alwi.

She was, however, appointed the Selangor Wanita PKR chief in June 2020, replacing Daroyah, after she quit the party.

The PKR polls will take place from May 13 to 18.
