2 men held over RM25,000 robbery of woman in Cheras

Both of the suspects have 18 previous convictions.

PETALING JAYA:
Police have detained two men in connection with the RM25,000 robbery involving an elderly woman in Bandar Tun Razak, Cheras, on Saturday.

Two men, armed with parangs, robbed the 77-year-old woman of her necklace and bracelets in front of a house. She injured her hands in the robbery.

A video of the robbery has since gone viral.

Cheras district police chief Idzam Jaafar said police made their first arrest on Sunday at 12.15am.

The suspect, aged 35, had 18 previous convictions.

“The suspect has been remanded for six days until April 1 to assist in investigations.”

Idzam said they arrested the second suspect yesterday and recovered RM5,300 in cash.

“The second suspect was also a local man, aged 29, with 18 previous convictions. The suspect has been remanded for seven days until April 4,” he added.
