Digital vaccination certs won’t be ‘wiped off’, says health ministry

It says those who fail to take their third dose will only lose their ‘fully vaccinated’ status on the MySejahtera app.

The health ministry says the digital vaccination certificates will remain on the MySejahtera app even for those who refuse to take their boosters by April 1.
PETALING JAYA:
Those who fail to take their booster shots will not have their digital certificates “wiped off”, the health ministry says.

This follows a viral message which states that the government will “wipe off” the MySejahtera digital certificates for the 2 million people who refuse to take their third dose.

The ministry explained today that those who do not take their third dose will only lose their “fully vaccinated” status on the MySejahtera app instead of having their vaccination certificate removed as per the viral message.

“All Sinovac vaccine recipients aged 18 and above, and those aged 60 and above who are eligible for their third dose, but have not been boosted, will only lose their ‘fully vaccinated’ status,” it said on Facebook.

The health ministry has described as ‘fake news’ the post that said all digital vaccination certificates will be ‘wiped off’.

On Thursday, health minister Khairy Jamaluddin revealed that over two million Sinovac vaccine recipients in the country will lose their “fully vaccinated” status if they failed to get their booster shots by April 1.

He said the health ministry has reported that a total of 2.09 million people who received Sinovac as their primary vaccine had not received their booster dose.

The deadline to get a booster jab for the Sinovac recipients was originally set for Feb 28 but was pushed back a month to March 31.
