Police probe highway accident involving luxury car convoy

A widely-shared video clip shows a pickup truck in a collision while trying to overtake the convoy on the left lane.

Police are conducting an investigation after a video clip was widely shared showing a convoy of luxury cars blocking traffic at a southbound exit of the North-South Expressway three days ago.

Kulai police chief Tok Beng Yeow said the incident happened at 6.10pm on Friday.

He said initial investigation found that the incident happened after the driver of a four-wheel-drive pickup truck tried to overtake a convoy of luxury cars dangerously before colliding with one of the cars while entering the left lane.

“As a result of the incident, the group of luxury cars involved stopped their vehicles in the middle of the highway due to dissatisfaction and caused a misunderstanding between them at the scene,” he said in a statement here today.

The 45-second-long video clip shows the pickup truck trying to overtake the convoy on the left lane before colliding with one of them.
