85 Covid-19 deaths, 22,341 new cases

The death toll now stands at 34,329.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry reported 85 Covid-19 deaths yesterday.

According to the ministry’s GitHub database, there were 22,341 new cases, comprising 21,817 local cases and 524 imported cases.

Of the 85 deaths, 23 were classified as brought-in-dead (BID) cases. The death toll now stands at 34,329.

Johor recorded the most deaths with 18. This was followed by Perak (17), Selangor (15), Kedah (10), Penang (5), Pahang (4), Melaka (4), Kuala Lumpur (3), Kelantan (3), Sarawak (2), Sabah (2), Terengganu (1) and Putrajaya (1).

There were no deaths reported in Negeri Sembilan, Perlis and Labuan.

As of midnight, there were 283,275 active cases, with 7,164 people hospitalised. Of this, 390 were in intensive care units (ICU), 219 of whom required respiratory assistance.

There were also 33,347 recoveries recorded.

The total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in Malaysia stands at 3,974,019.
