
Most of the federal roads involved, he said, were in the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, while the remaining roads affected were in Negeri Sembilan, Selangor and Perak.
“We have so far repaired slopes at 121 locations. Some have been completed, some are still under construction, while others are at the planning stage,” he told reporters after inspecting repair works along Jalan Gunung Jerai here.
He said large-scale and serious slope collapse locations include Cameron Highlands, Jerantut, Kuala Lipis and Bentong in Pahang; Kuala Klawang and Genting Peras in Negeri Sembilan and Simpang Pulai in Perak.
Fadillah said in Kedah, 12 slope failures which occurred along Jalan Gunung Jerai and Jalan Kuala Kedah, a state road under the supervision of the public works department (JKR), are currently being repaired, with most of the work already completed.
“The repair work at Jalan Gunung Jerai is quite complex. We are not just rebuilding the slope but installing netting to prevent further collapse to protect the road.”
On the recent landslide at Ampang, Selangor, he said the repair work was under the jurisdiction of the local authority and the state government, while his ministry through JKR only provided necessary expertise and advice.
