“The support of young people is important in the development of Johor, and for the sake of the state’s lasting prosperity, I suggest that the leadership elect young people to lead Johor,” said Hasni.
His statement this evening comes two days after BN secured 40 seats in the state elections for a two-thirds majority in the 56-member Johor state assembly. Hasni was re-elected in the Benut seat.
Hasni reiterated his remarks at a post-election media conference when he called on Johoreans to come together, whether they voted for BN or otherwise.
He said: “There is no party ideology or politician that is more important or bigger than Johor. Now it is time to build a more prosperous Johor.”
BN chief Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had previously announced that Hasni would be nominated for a new term as Johor menteri besar if BN succeeded in forming the next state government.
