Rivals’ failure to name MB proves they aren’t serious, says Umno leader

Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan said that Pakatan Harapan, Perikatan Nasional and Pejuang do not have suitable candidates.

Ahmad Maslan says only Barisan Nasional has named its menteri besar candidate.
PONTIAN:
Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan says the failure of other parties contesting in the Johor state elections to name their menteri besar candidates proves that they are not serious and do not have suitable leaders in the state.

Ahmad compared these parties to Barisan Nasional (BN) which had announced Johor Umno chief Hasni Mohammad as its menteri besar designate since nomination day.

“Till now, Johoreans have no clue who are the menteri besar candidates from Pakatan Harapan (PH), Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Pejuang.

“In other words, they have no candidate for menteri besar. Even if they announce a name tonight, it is too late considering that tomorrow is polling day,” he said.

BN chief Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had previously announced that Hasni would retain his position as Johor menteri besar if BN succeeded in forming the new state government.

PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin, however, sought to assure Johoreans that the party would decide on a qualified candidate if it won the state elections.
