SEGAMAT: Barisan Nasional (BN) hopes to achieve a two-third majority victory in the Johor state elections, Umno vice-president Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.
He said BN’s chances were good, but the coalition does not intend to merely settle for a simple majority win.
“We do not want a simple majority, we want more than a simple majority, if possible two thirds of the seats to be won by BN,” he said.
BN will be contesting all 56 seats in the Johor state assembly. Its main rivals are the competing coalitions of Perikatan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan which are also contesting all seats.
Polling takes place on March 12.
Ismail said chances of a BN victory were good “but in any competition, we can’t declare victory before the final whistle is blown” and the party’s election machinery must continue to work hard until a winner is declared.
