In a statement, Muda said it rented the premises and used a shoplot in Stulang Baru, Johor Bahru, as its Larkin operations centre. Rasid Abu Bakar is the party’s candidate for the Larkin seat.
“The landlord’s letter allows us to rent the premises as our operations centre. The landlord and (building) management did not raise any issue when they surrendered vacant possession to us.
“For the past week, Muda had not received any notices or complaints from the landlord or anyone to say we are trespassing the ‘Inkubator Usahawan’ site,” it said.
Earlier today, PIJ Holdings Sdn Bhd filed a police report against Muda for trespassing and using the site as its operations centre for the March 12 elections.
The premises belong to the company’s subsidiary, PIJ Property Development Sdn Bhd, and is used to help young entrepreneurs start their businesses.
“It is not intended as an operations centre for any political party,” PIJ Holdings said.
It said its records revealed that the premises had been leased to an individual to carry out teak furniture business and others were prohibited from renting the place.
Muda also claimed the police presence at its Larkin operations centre yesterday was a form of “intimidation”.
“We will not bow to such tactics and vow to fight on. At the same time, we hope that the landlord can inform us in writing if there is a need for us to move out,” it said.
