According to their analysis, 48.4% of these deaths comprised such patients.

Rose said 47 of the 93 deaths occurred in hospitals while 46 were brought-in-dead (BID) patients.

“A majority of the BIDs had not obtained booster shots,” she said in a statement issued today in response to the jump in Covid-19 deaths in Sabah since Feb 8.

Among the contributing factors to BIDs, she said, were people not obtaining treatment, thinking they only had mild symptoms, and patients unwilling to seek medical help.

Rose said the main symptoms identified were loss of appetite and tiredness.

“About 84% of the 93 deaths had a history of comorbidities, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer and kidney failure.”

As such, she urged all those eligible, especially those in high-risk groups such as those aged 60 and above as well as people with comorbidities, to immediately obtain their primary vaccine shots and booster jab.

“Parents are also urged to take their children, aged between five and 12, for the vaccine jabs,” she said.

As of yesterday, Sabah had recorded 2,944 deaths attributed to Covid-19.
