450,000 kids given first Covid-19 vaccine dose

CovidNow portal says almost 60% of adults have also received the booster dose.

Nearly 90% of teenagers aged 12-17 have completed their vaccination.
KUALA LUMPUR:
A total 454,194 children or 12.8% of those aged 5-11 have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine under the national immunisation programme for children (PICKids) as of yesterday.

Based on data from the CovidNow portal, a total 13,924,411 people or 59.2% of the adult population in the country have received the booster dose, 22,943,785 or 97.5% have been given two doses, and 23,220,757 or 98.7% have received at least one dose.

For those aged 12-17, a total of 2,798,646 teenagers or 89.9% from the group have completed their vaccination while 2,883,444 or 92.6% have received at least one dose.

A total 151,156 doses of vaccine injections were administered yesterday, involving 72,991 first-dose jabs, 648 full-dosage jabs and 77,517 booster shots, bringing the cumulative vaccine doses given out under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme to date to 66,018,432.

Meanwhile, the health ministry’s GitHub portal said 34 deaths due to Covid-19 were recorded yesterday.

Johor reported eight cases, followed by Sabah (seven), Selangor (five), and Melaka (four). Two deaths each were reported in Kedah, Negeri Sembilan and Perak, while Kelantan, Penang, Sarawak and Terengganu each had one fatality.
